Life as a mama is hard. And if you’re anything like us, it can sometimes be hard turning off that annoying little voice in your head. You know – the one that says “you’re not good enough,” or  “you can't wear those shorts,” and “you’re not worthy.” Yeh. THAT annoying voice.

What are body positive affirmations?

An affirmation is a simple and positive affirming statement that you repeat to yourself to help adjust your mindset. They can also bring us to more desired outcomes (manifestation.) You can say them in your head, quietly, or shout ‘em from the rooftop mama! 

Self-love affirmations and body-positive words are essential in today’s hectic world. Even if we don’t mean to, we can be pretty mean to ourselves. Telling ourselves we look fat or we’re not good enough.

It’s unhealthy, yes, but is it common? Absolutely. And positive self-love affirmations are one of the most amazing and freeing ways to rid yourself of those negative thoughts for good. Even science and psychology back them up. Not only that, but they can also encourage you to be kinder and more caring to others. 

In order to let go of negativity and body negativity, you need to focus more on what you love about yourself. Because there are tons of things! And every time a negative Nancy thought tries to sneak its way into your head, push it away with body-positive words. 

Because you deserve all the love and joy in the world mama. Especially when you do so much for everyone else. Mamas are (in our eyes) the most magical creatures alive. How to perform positive self-love affirmations

Our mind believes what we tell it.

Using affirmations can help you take back control of your thoughts and your life. Helping to shush negative thoughts by using affirmative positive statements can override the negative and bring a sense of calm and confidence into your life.

And who doesn’t want that?

So, first thing’s first. When you wake up in the morning, breathe in deeply before getting out of bed. Take some long, deep breathes and just allow yourself to be still and calm. 

Now, up you get! And stand (or sit, we’re not fussy) in front of your mirror. With your body positive affirmation of choice firmly in your head, say it out loud while looking at yourself in the mirror. Try to do this for about five minutes, and psychology suggests repeating this action 3 times a day to really help the affirmation sink in. 

You can also print or write out your favorite quotes and stick them on your mirror or carry them around with you. Repeat them whenever you feel a negative thought creep back in.
