Meet the ‘Tits’ Behind Titty City Design

Meet the ‘Tits’ Behind Titty City Design - Check out my Titties

Estimated read time: 14 minutes

Hello wonderful communi-Titty!

Bit of a different blog post for you today.

We thought it was time for you to get to know the Tits behind Titty City Design — Jessy. So, in today’s blog, we’re going to be answering some of the most asked questions we get in our DMs from our fabulous Instagram communi-Titty.

We hope you enjoy getting to know Jessy a lil’ better.

1) Who Created Titty City Design and why?

Loved this question!

Hi. I’m Jessy. A So-Cal mom of one sweet little boy and I started Titty City Design to celebrate new moms, and their breastfeeding milestones (because it can be SO hard), and to spread self-love, positivity, and community through our unique products, social media, and breastfeeding blog.

Here’s a little bit about me.

I’ve been an entrepreneur and artist since I was a little kid growing up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. After graduating with a BFA in graphic design from the University of Illinois, I followed my intuition (and passion) all the way to sunny southern California, where I’ve lived and worked as a designer and creative director for 15 years!

So, why Boobs?

Boobs have always been a love of mine. From a young age, I have been comfortable with my body and a champion for body positivity. For as long as I can remember, I have been an advocate for Boobs and breast cancer awareness. Sadly, I lost my grandma and mother-in-law to breast cancer, so breast health has always been important to me.

In February 2020, I became a mama for the first time. Not just any mama, I became a pandemic mama. And when I started my breastfeeding journey, my love and respect for all things Boobies took on a whole new meaning.

Going through the pandemic and quarantine, transitioning to motherhood felt even scarier than usual. There were no local mommy and me classes, no meeting up with fellow moms and friends, and no physical support other than what I got at home.

The new mom struggles were real, but I found inspiration and strength in my breastfeeding journey, which led me to start Titty City Design in November 2020.

Mommy Jessy

I was pumped to start creating unique designs celebrating moms and breastfeeding and in April 2021 I launched my online store. And in June 2022, I transitioned from my 9-5 job as a creative director to embrace the 24/7 life of a business owner. I am incredibly proud of the work I am doing for Titty City Design, mostly because it has enabled me to build a community to support mamas and celebrate their awesomeness!

    2) Where did your Boob inspiration come from?

    You mean my "Tits-piration," right?

    Literally my own Tits!

Well. That and my breastfeeding journey.

I lovingly joked how I was “Titty City” to my baby! He was always on the boob  for feeding and for comfort, and after experiencing pretty much every breastfeeding struggle there is, I realized just how incredible and strong mamas are. My baby and I overcame the struggles together and continued our journey.

And because there was so little help available during the pandemic, my mind started to drift to all the other mamas out there who might be feeling the same way — scared, alone, wondering if it’s normal for breastfeeding to be so freaking hard (because it doesn’t always come naturally or easily).

Painting Titty City at night while pumping

I started to paint Titties on ceramics. Beautiful Boobies of all shapes and sizes (because every Titty is pretty). It almost became a form of self-care.

As I created designs, it made me want to reach out to all the mamas out there. Tell them what a fantastic job they were doing and offer them love, advice, and encouragement.

The thing is, I never heard people talking like this.

Normalizing how hard being a new mom and breastfeeding is. That’s why I work tirelessly to build a community and brand that normalizes talking candidly about what our amazing bodies go through and celebrating every step of the breastfeeding journey, whether it’s hours or years.

Titty City Design is here to cheer you on and support you no matter what your journey looks like. Because every mom, and every body, is amazing.

    3) Why did you decide to start a blog?

The blog on the Titty City Design website is something I’m really proud of. I create all the illustrations myself and write about topics that really matter.

From breastfeeding and pumping advice, tips for nursing in public, the real deal about breastfeeding struggles, what to expect at mammograms, how to support new moms, and so much more, the blog is a place to go when you need help, support, and feel like you’re not alone.

We write about topics that our Instagram communi-Titty is talking about, so we can be sure to always be a helpful source of knowledge. Every post is thoroughly researched and written with love, empathy, and positivity.

    4) How busy is it to run Titty City Design?

    Not gonna lie, mama,

    VERY busy!

When I first started Titty City Design I was also working a full-time job while having my little one at home with me 3 days a week. Because of the pandemic, there was a lack of childcare, so I worked late nights on Titty City once he was in bed and my other job duties were done for the day.

It’s weird because even though I was exhausted, I was so pumped to build Titty City that my passion kept me going. I don’t even remember getting a proper night’s sleep once!

It’s not just about the shop creation, blog writing, or product design. It’s about building the communi-Titty. That’s what makes Titty City so special. YOU! I’ll spend hours posting on Instagram and engaging with our followers, which I love doing so much.

It’s a busy, crazy, hectic life, but I wouldn’t have it any other way and I am so grateful to do this work.

    5) How do you market Titty City Design?

This is such a great question.

Right now I have been mostly focused on my Instagram community. It’s how I got started and it’s my main avenue for getting news out about new products, pop-up stores, blog posts, and news.

Plus, my followers (which I call my communi-Titty) absolutely rock!

I’ve also been building an email list for my VITs (Very Important Titties) so I can connect with my community right in their inbox. I email regularly with news, new product launches, and other Boob-related stuff. I plan to get more newsletter-type emails out for 2023.

But I am always looking for new ways to branch out my marketing, so I’ll be focusing on that over the coming months, including more collaborations and partnerships... and who knows!

If you are looking to put our Tits together (that's what I call, "collaborate"), send me an email.

    6) Where do you see Titty City Design in 10 years?

    I’m thinking BIG.

I see Titty City Design having a full team of dedicated employees, a warehouse for fulfillment, and our Boob-tiful products on shelves in stores and other online retailers.

I see our products celebrating postpartum, breastfeeding, supporting moms, and helping to change the way our society treats mothers.

In 10 years' time, just like now, I see Titty City Design being more than just products. I have a vision to also offer services for support. This can include teaming up with lactation consultants, designing retreats for moms and their babies, and so much more.

I’ve got lots of big ideas and plans for Titty City and I can’t wait to keep building and growing.

    7) What was the first product you designed for Titty City?

It feels like so long ago now! But the Titty City Design journey all started with a set of coasters. I painted a set of ceramic tile coasters with my signature Titty design for my own personal use.

I never sold them and I still use them to this day.

Once I painted the coasters, the Titty fever quickly took hold and I moved over to gorgeous ceramic pots. I went for pots because I loved the variety of shapes and sizes. They came in a beautiful array  each one special and unique. Just like Boobies!

    8) What are your top favorite products?

Oh My Titties, it is so hard to choose because I am truly passionate about each and every item I create.

BUT. If I had to pick just three (and these are in no particular order), I would choose the Hot Tits mug because this was truly my first step toward scaling and getting my designs into more people’s hands.

    Best Boob Mug

It was so much fun to make because I crowd-sourced it with my Instagram communi-Titty. Together we decided on the size and shape of the mug, and even the final design. I love this mug and how much it resonates with both me and the Titty City community.

Next up, are the Breastfeeding Milestone Titty Sweetheart Ring dishes. These are just so incredibly special. I created Titty City Design to encourage and celebrate new moms. So what better way to celebrate all the hard work that goes into breastfeeding than a keepsake that honors and celebrates your personal breastfeeding milestones and all the sacrifices you made to feed your child?

Finally, it has to be the Boob “Toob” socks.  As with all my products, quality is one of the most important things I look for when launching something new. I can confidently say, these socks are super high-quality, and they are the comfiest socks I have ever worn. I spent a lot of time researching to make the best socks out there with my boob design woven into the fabric. They are extra thick and have lots of cushioning and support. I never want to take them off!

    9) Any hints about future Titty City products?

Ooh OK. I’m going to let you in on a few secrets.

    Just because we’re Breasties.

I’m always ‘Boob-storming’ new products and ideas come to me at all hours of the day. I have so many items on my list that I would love to turn into a reality, but I need to pace them out a bit.

Buuuuut. Some things you can expect to see in the future are self-care items and gift sets for new moms. Also gift sets for breast cancer patients. I’m always open to hearing from the Titty City family. If there’s something you want us to make reach out on Instagram or email me!

We hope you enjoyed getting to know Jessy and Titty City Design a little better. Don’t forget to check out our store and treat yourself to a little Bobbie goodness.

At Titty City Design, we believe that every boobie is beautiful, and that should be celebrated. We are a female-owned and operated, small business here to spread self-love and body positivity with our line of boob apparel, boob accessories, and boob-themed decor and products for the home. A portion of our proceeds goes to help support postpartum people and breast cancer patients.
